Youtube Lashes (ft. Make Up For Ever Lash Show N204 and C709*)

I had a discussion with some beauty bloggers about their 'new normal'. Once you start using certain beauty items, a bulb goes off and you can't be without. A small set of people can't put down their falsies and would feel lash-line-bald without them. Trying out a few Make Up For Ever Lash Show* ($22CDN) lashes revealed why lashes are de rigueur on social media, Youtube and in person.

Look at my bald eyelids people. The height of my lash ambition is, primitively, to find the most telescopic and volumizing of mascaras. Up close you can barely tell they're there and behind glasses, my liner game is the main attraction.

With more "natural" lashes like N-204, my lids go from bald to BA-BAM! There is not denying that my lash game has suddenly skyrocketed, and I'm almost ready to put my face on video. Per lash segment, N-2014 different lash lengths and the effect is lots of length and lots of flutter. The band is clear so a good reapplication of liner afterwards was necessary (in hind sight) to cover it up. These weren't too hard to apply but I didn't end up losing one segment when I tried to get them out of the box.

Being practically legally blind, I tested these with glasses. For once you can tell I have lashes; lashes which pushed up against the back of my lenses and created the weirdest dragging sensation whenever I opened and closed my eyes.

If N-204 wasn't enough of a shock, I tried on a pair from the Creative line, C709.
These lashes had a black band with increasing length and volume as move from inner to outer eye corner. This made these lashes more difficult to work with since the visual heaviness near the outer corner necesitites some placement strategies. I would not follow your eyelid when you read the end, but place the lash slightly higher than your lash line and extend out your eye shape with liner to reduce the drooping effect this can give.

A closed eye shot was necessary for these. Your lash line is basically a feather fan of lashes. I feel like a small bug could walk across these no problem.

Surprisingly these weren't too bad with glasses and it reduced the turned-down-corner look. Made them almost wearable in the day time.

All Lash Show lashes come with a small tube of pearlescent lash glue. Once you manage to twist off and pull out the applicator (which has a felt tip), the glue can be applied and so far it seems to work quite well for my amateur lash skills.  A lash segment trimming of one segment made for a better fit on my lash line for both sets. The lashes seem very durable and I would be comfortable re-wearing them.

I remember when I went to a lash event and came home to my family with longer than normal lashes. My brother commented, "You look like one of those girls." which I didn't quite know how to take. Its true though, artificial lashes are artificial.  You can determine what that might say about you (if anything) and if you are comfortable with that. But I can't deny that when I had the N204 lashes on, I felt like the prettiest girl in the room and I definitely understood the use and appeal of lashes for filming purposes. If nothing else, my eyes appeared larger and I looked more alert. Now all I need to find are some lashes that aren't as long (N202 looks promising).

False Lashes. Thoughts about them, their users or usages?

Daily Zen: Uh...yes please? I'd like one of Tarzan and Prince Philip. Here is what the Disney Princes would look like if they were real men.
