I have no experience with Kajal liners and certainly no experience with a matte Kajal liner so when The Body Shop's launched a black and white Matte Kajal Liner* ($15CDN) I was intriguing. Right away I thought of Andy Warhol, mod clothing and Edie Sedwick. If white liner doesn't scream 60s to you, then you need to readjust your psychedelic chemical dependencies.
The formula is supposed to be ultra-pigmented and highly blendable and the liner has an easy grip design to make application easy. I wore the black liner for a full 16 hours and was pleasantly surprised that it stayed on for the vast majority of the day. Near the very end, my eyelids were getting oily and some black had creased onto my upper lids but nothing was smudged on my lower lid. The black isn't very intense though. If you're looking for something matte, I still prefer the Make Up For Ever Ink Liner.
They do apply smoothly but I wish they were just a little more opaque. They have a crayon-y ness to them which means the color is sort of broken up over fine lines. I also wished they had a sharpener of some kind. I'm away that kajal products tend to have this conical shape so it looks like this type of product just isn't for me or for someone that would like a sharpened point.
I wouldn't call these highly blendable. When blended, the place were the liner was initially applied is much darker and obviously a line. The blended color is more like a haze of black/white around the, now lightened, liner.
Though I like the idea of a matte black and a matte white liner, and these did last for a surprisingly long time, they don't hit all their advertised points. If you're not looking for something that blends and are just buying for color, you can consider these but I'm sure there are some drugstore options that can do the same for less (like the annabelle stay sharps)
